The College of Midwives of Alberta is the governing and regulatory body that oversees the registration and practice of midwifery throughout the province of Alberta.
The CMA continues to monitor the pandemic situation carefully and make adjustments as appropriate. As clients of midwifery services, you will remain as safe as possible because the CMA regulates the midwifery profession and supports Registered Midwives in all situations. For clients, please make sure that you review the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics contained on this website, so that you know what Registered Midwives do to provide high quality care.

This Tuesday, March 31, 2020 marked the first office day in which our CMA staff are working remotely. CMA is taking these steps to ensure the well-being of our employees, Council, Committees and the community. This decision is due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a matter of public health. For the near future, the CMA office will be virtual, with fully functioning services, and continued communication through phone, email, electronic files and everything else needed for a seamless transition to our remote environment. The CMA expects to operate well this way, continuing to meet the mandate of public protection.

The impact of COVID-19 continues to be felt by our community. Through this important time, we kindly ask that our registrants, guests, suppliers and contractors follow provincial health service recommendations to ensure their own safety as well as the safety of our staff, members and the public.
The CMA is working closely with Alberta Health, Alberta Health Services, as well as with Alberta Association of Midwives, to provide the latest information to our members and to the public. We continue to monitor reports and recommendations from all health authorities and relevant sources.
